Myanmar -China Boundary

Myanmar – China Boundary was demarcated during the year 1959 to 1961. It was known as “Ba Ba Campaign”. In 1985-1986 field season, first phase of joint inspection of Myanmar- China boundary was done for 106 boundary pillars and necessary Additional Boundary Pillars were constructed. Second phase of joint inspection of Myanmar- China boundary for 498 boundary pillars was done during 1993- 1994 field season. Ground Control Point surveying for the total length of 1384 miles of Myanmar – China entire boundary was carried out during the 1993-1994 field season and aerial photography, vectorization and map production were also carried out.

Myanmar-Thailand Boundary

Joint demarcation of Mesai - Namrauk river sector, Myanmar – Thailand boundary was carried out during the 1987-1988 field season and 492 Boundary Reference Pillar were constructed in each side. In 2000, joint inspection of boundary reference pillars were carried out and boundary pillars “Type A” were constructed on the land rising due to the changes of Mesai-Namrauk River.  Sixteen boundary pillars “Type B” were constructed between boundary pillars “Type A” by Myanmar and Thailand Jointly together.

Myanmar - Bangladesh Boundary

The demarcation of Myanmar- Bangladesh Boundary was done during the year 1979 to 1982, the surveying of 7 boundary pillars and 7 points of mid stream of Taungbro chaung were performed during 1996-1997 field season and the joint inspection of the total length of 218 miles of Myanmar – Bangladesh boundary were carried out during the 1997-1998 field season. The inspection and construction of iron boundary reference pillars were done at Naff river sector during the 2004-05 field season.  In 2007-08 fieldseason, the inspection of five send bank occurring in Naff Boundary River was done.  The demarcation of the alinement of 150 feet from boundary line between BP- 32 to BP 54 was done in 2009-10 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 2 boundary pillars and the construction of 18 addition boundary pillars and the demarcation of the alinement of 150 feet from boundary line between BP- 54 and BP 67 were done during 2010-11 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 3 boundary pillars and the construction of 14 addition boundary pillars, 19 additional boundary reference pillar and 54 auxilary pillars were done during the 2011-12 field season.  Joint Inspection and Restoration of (5) Boundary Pillars, Construction of (21) Additional Boundary Pillars and (26) Reference Markers (RM) along Myanmar-Bangladesh Land Boundary was carried out during 2014-2015 field season.

Myanmar -Laos Boundary

Joint demarcationfor the total length of 149 miles along the Mekong River, Myanmar – Laos Boundary was carried out during the year 1990 to 1992. Total 86 Boundary Reference Pillars were constructed for each side and 1:50000 scale of six boundary strip maps were produced in Myanmar survey department by survey departments of Myanmar and Laos jointly together.  Joint inspection of 16 boundary reference markers was carried out during 2003-04 field season.  Joint inspection of 10 boundary reference markers was carried out during 2006-07 field season. Joint inspection of 24 boundary reference markers was carried out during 2011-12 field season.

Myanmar-India Boundary

Myanmar_ India Boundary was demarcated during the year 1968 to 1975 and then the joint inspections of boundary pillars were done as 4 phases. First phase of joint inspection was done during 1994-1995 field season for the approximately 214 miles of boundary, second phase of joint inspection was done during 2000-2001 field season for the approximately 230 miles of boundary, third phase of joint inspection was done during 2002-2003 field season for the approximately 220 miles of boundary and fourth phase of joint inspection was done during 2002-2003 field season for the approximately 497 miles of boundary. The inspection of 36 digital maps in India and joint inspection and construction of 16 boundary pillars were carried out during the 2006-07 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 3 boundary pillars were carried out during the 2007-08 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 16 boundary pillars were carried out during the 2006-07 field season. The inspection of the construction of 3 tower by india side was done during 2010-11 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 14 boundary pillars, joint inspection of unsual construction by india side between BP-79 and BP-81 and joint inspection of unsual construction by india side between BP-145 and BP-146 were carried out during the 2011-12 field season. Joint inspection and construction of 16 boundary pillars were carried out during the 2012-13 field season.

Future Plan

           The followings are life time plannings of International Boundary and Civil Construction Division;

           (1)   To be carried out field verification of updating of UTM Map
           (2)   To be carried out joint inspection of boundary pillars according to the treaty of
                  neighbouring countries
           (3)   To be produced topographic map and any thematic map  with various scales
